Our Treatments

Your First Appointment

Your initial consultation is a comprehensive assessment designed to give us a full understanding of your foot health. It typically takes longer than a standard follow-up appointment, as we take the time to listen to your concerns, review your medical history, and carry out a detailed clinical examination.

This includes checking skin and nail condition, joint mobility, muscle strength, and foot posture. We also assess circulation and nerve function, particularly important for patients with diabetes or vascular concerns, using appropriate clinical tools such as Doppler ultrasound and monofilament testing.

Based on our findings, we’ll discuss a personalised treatment plan and offer advice on footwear, self-care, and any further investigations or referrals.

We aim to make your first visit thorough, informative, and reassuring, giving you a clear understanding of your foot health and the steps we can take to improve it.

Routine Podiatry Treatment

Routine foot care helps prevent discomfort and more serious complications, especially for those with diabetes, reduced mobility, or difficulty managing their own foot health. Before starting routine treatment, all patients must first attend an initial consultation. This allows us to assess your overall foot health, check circulation and nerve function, and identify any underlying issues that may affect treatment.

Once assessed, routine appointments typically include nail trimming, corn and callus removal, cracked heel care, and skin management. All procedures are carried out using sterile instruments in a clinical setting. We also offer personalised advice to help you maintain healthy feet between visits.

Ingrown Toenails

An ingrown toenail develops when the edge of the nail grows into the surrounding skin, causing pain, inflammation, and sometimes infection. Symptoms include redness, swelling, tenderness, and discharge. We offer conservative care such as nail trimming and antiseptic dressings, as well as minor nail surgery under local anaesthetic for more persistent or infected cases. Aftercare is provided to ensure proper healing and prevent recurrence.

Fungal Nail Infections (Onychomycosis)

Fungal nail infections can cause nails to become thickened, discoloured, brittle, and sometimes odorous. These infections are often persistent and may spread if untreated. Treatment options include nail debridement to reduce thickness and improve appearance, topical antifungal medications, and hygiene advice to prevent reinfection. In more severe cases, we may refer patients for oral antifungal therapy.

Verrucae (Plantar Warts)

Verrucae are viral skin lesions caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), commonly found on weight-bearing areas of the foot. They can be painful and resistant to over-the-counter treatments.

We will discuss different clinical options including debridement to reduce discomfort. We also offer a topical treatment Verrutop- this is a professional topical solution used to treat verrucae (plantar warts) safely and effectively. It works by dehydrating the wart tissue, causing it to dry out and shed naturally. The treatment is quick, painless, and well tolerated, making it ideal for patients who prefer a non-invasive option. Multiple sessions may be needed depending on the size and duration of the lesion, with most cases responding within a few weeks.

Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Pain)

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It occurs when the plantar fascia, a band of tissue running along the sole of the foot, becomes inflamed due to overuse, poor footwear, or biomechanical issues. Patients often describe sharp, stabbing pain under the heel, especially with their first steps in the morning. Treatment includes a thorough biomechanical assessment, custom orthotics to offload pressure, a structured stretching and strengthening programme and advice on suitable footwear and activity modification.

Diabetic Foot Care

Diabetes can impair circulation and nerve function, increasing the risk of ulcers, infections, and delayed healing. Common symptoms include numbness, tingling, dry skin, and changes in foot shape. We provide routine diabetic foot checks, including vascular and neurological assessments, skin and nail care, and personalised education to help patients manage their foot health and prevent complications.

Corns and Calluses

Corns and calluses are thickened areas of skin caused by repeated pressure or friction. They can be painful and may lead to skin breakdown if untreated. Treatment involves gentle removal using sterile instruments, pressure relief through padding or orthotics, and advice on footwear and skin care to prevent recurrence.

Bunions (Hallux Valgus)

A bunion is a bony deformity at the base of the big toe, often caused by genetics or ill-fitting footwear. Symptoms include pain, swelling, and difficulty wearing shoes. We offer conservative treatments such as padding, footwear modification, custom orthotics, and joint mobilisation. If conservative care is ineffective, we may refer patients for surgical consultation.

Nail Surgery

Nail surgery is a minor, highly effective procedure used to treat persistent or severely ingrown toenails that do not respond to conservative care. It involves removing part or all of the affected nail under local anaesthetic, providing long-term relief from pain, infection, and inflammation.

The most common procedure is a Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA), where only the problematic edge of the nail is removed. A chemical (usually phenol) is then applied to prevent regrowth of that portion of the nail. In some cases, a Total Nail Avulsion (TNA) may be recommended if the entire nail is affected.

The procedure is quick, sterile, and performed in our clinic by a qualified podiatrist. Most patients report minimal discomfort during and after the treatment. We provide full aftercare instructions and follow-up to ensure proper healing and reduce the risk of recurrence.

Nail surgery is often the best solution for chronic ingrown toenails, repeated infections, or thickened, damaged nails that cause ongoing discomfort.
